Japanese weeding sickle made of carbon steel, known as a ‘Nejiri kama’ for left-handed users.
Nejiri means ‘twisted, twisted’: the tang (the steel handle) is twisted (offset to one side) and the blade is twisted to form an angle with the handle.
This configuration makes it more ergonomic to use as a weeder.
Ideal for weeding flower beds, rockeries or vegetable gardens, for controlling invasive perennials and weeding moss carpets and weeding in general, or as a scraper...
It is used by pulling the blade to cut roots below the soil surface like a small hoe. You can also use the tip for more precise work (joints, borders, delicate weeding of moss carpets, etc.).
Very strong blade and cutting edge due to the high carbon content of the steel. Can be sharpened as required.
Forged and heat-treated blade. Rockwell hardness rating : HRC58.
12.5 cm wide blade welded to the steel handle.
(Please note that the blade and handle are not forged in one piece as on the right-handed model, but this is all we have been able to find for left-handed users at the moment).
Total length of tool : 26 cm.
Wooden handles 10.7 cm long and 27 mm in diameter.
Weight of tool : 149 g.
Made in Japan.
