Japanese weeding sickle made of hardened high carbon steel

known as a ‘Nejiri kama’.

Nejiri means twisted, coiled : the steel handle is twisted (offset to one side) and the blade is coiled to create the ideal angle in relation to the handle.

This configuration allows for more ergonomic use as a weeder.

Ideal for weeding flowerbeds, rockeries or vegetable gardens, for controlling invasive perennials and for general weeding, or as a scraper...

It is used by pulling the blade to cut the roots below the surface of the soil like a small scythe. You can also use the point for more precise work (delicately cutting roots in moss, joints, borders, etc.).

Very strong blade and cutting edge due to the high carbon content of the steel.

Can be sharpened as required.

Forged, heat-treated and tempered blade. Rockwell hardness rating : HRC58.

10 cm wide blade. 5 mm thick. 30 mm high.

Total length of the tool 28 cm.

Length of steel shaft between the handle and the blade : 14 cm.

Wooden handles : 10.7 cm long and 27 mm in diameter.

Weight of tool : 190 g.

Brand : Ueda.

Made in Japan.
