Japanese sharpening stone, with concave, convex and flat part, with fine grain #3000, ideal for deburring and polishing the blades of pruners, shears, sickles, knives and other cutting tools.
Material : Fused alumina.
Dimensions :
Length : 133 mm
Width : 20 mm
Height : 28 mm
Weight : 152 g.
The upper part is convex, perfect for curved blades such as sickles or the counter-blades of secateurs.
The lower part is slightly concave, reducing friction and making it easier to sharpen the flat parts of blades.
The sides are perfectly flat for deburring the back of blades in 1 or 2 passes.
Allow the stone to soak for about 5 minutes before use.
It is very important to allow the stone to soak properly before use and to wet it regularly during use to prevent it from drying out.
However, to preserve it, do not leave it in water unnecessarily.
Using the concave part, make cross passes from the base of the blade to the tip, respecting the initial angle of the edge of your tool. Repeat until a burr forms on the back of the blade and the polish is to your satisfaction. Be sure to spread the passes over the entire surface of the stone so as not to wear it down in one place.
When the burr is formed, hold the flat side of the stone (its flank) flat against the back of the blade to deburr (just remove the burr).
One or two flat strokes are sufficient.
Never sharpen the back of the blade !
It is very rare to need to sharpen the back of a secateurs blade. However, they can wear out over time. In this case, use the convex part of the stone to match the inner angle of the counter-blade and proceed as above.
Never sharpen the back of the counter-blade !
Finally, rinse the stone with water and allow it to dry in the shade before putting it away.
Do not leave your stone to soak for too long, do not expose it to frost and do not knock it !
We advise you to keep it in your workshop and to use only a durable tool such as the #600 diamond grit file, which is available in the shop, on the working site or when travelling.
